Complementary and Integrated Use of Power BI and Power Apps at NON.energy
At horsum, we are proud of our collaboration with energy transition company NON.energy, a fast-growing player in the installation and rental of heat pumps. In this project, we combined Power BI reporting with Power Apps to professionalize, improve, and streamline both strategic and operational processes.
Professionalising Reporting
In the first phase, we worked together with NON.energy to identify the KPIs that truly add value.

Next came the technical aspect: what data is required, where is it located, and how can we make it accessible in the most efficient way? Today, we combine multiple data sources into a single, well-structured database that serves as the foundation for a clear and reliable data model. This data is now used not only for reporting purposes but also to support various internal operational processes.
Thanks to automated and standardized reporting, less time is spent manually creating reports and more time can be dedicated to what truly matters: analysing the numbers and making informed decisions. This enables valuable insights while eliminating human errors from the reporting process.
Custom Power Apps Strengthen Operational Efficiency
In addition to strategic reporting, we also optimized NON.energy’s day-to-day operations. While Power BI is primarily a visualization tool, there was a clear need to write information back to one of the source systems.
horsum addressed this challenge by combining Power BI with Microsoft Power Apps. Thanks to a custom-built Power App integrated directly into the BI reports, employees can immediately register and save conclusions and actions. This creates a direct link between insight and execution, enabling NON.energy to work more efficiently while reducing the risk of errors.
We also created a clear overview of the entire invoicing process. As a result, outstanding invoices and payments can be identified instantly, making it easier to detect bottlenecks and take corrective actions where needed.
